Jesus - Hope of the Lost
Romans 8:28-30; 2 Timothy 1:6-9 (NIV)
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
2 Timothy 1
6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God. 9 He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,
The feeling of being lost or not knowing where or what to do with your life is something that everyone goes through. There are people in high school who feel like this, there are also people who are married and have full time jobs who feel like this. Feeling like you were not made to do anything in the world or even for God’s Kingdom can be a dark and lonely place to be in. But if you look at what God says in His word about you, you’ll see that everyone has a purpose in life and for His Kingdom.
Romans 8:28-30 are perfect verses to read when you are feeling lost. Verse 28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.” If you love God and are a believer, He has a purpose for you and it says it right there in that verse! Not only does it say He has a purpose for you, it also says that He works for your good! How dope is that?!
2 Timothy 1:6-9 tells us one thing that God has already called us to. Verse 9 says, “He has saved us and called us to a holy life- not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.” God calls us to live a holy life. And when we do that alone, it shows unbelievers God’s true character.
God has a purpose for everyone. Most people do not find what that is until later on in life when God decides it is time for them to know. Be patient and wait, and while you are waiting live a holy life that God has called you to. That alone is a great purpose.
